>**Posted by ** >>It might seem stupid to ask, but it's rather necessary. Are you using illegal (non-Steam) or legal (Steam) copies of the games that you're having issues with? I have the legal version, I got all of the items listed above from the 'Half-Life Complete' package.
What is hl.exe from Valve? Hl.exe is part of Half-Life Launcher. Program Files Counter-Strike 1.6 hl.exe' -game cstrike. Download Boost and enjoy your PC.
>**Posted by ** >>@: That shouldn't happen. I can play it fine but then again who wants to play these old games? I want to play these because I want to see how the predecessors of the games I like a lot are while playing the game and not watching it. Your Local Sentient Jar of Jam • 4y.
1) Have you installed any mods recently? - A: If yes, remove those mods and try loading the game again. - B: If it continues to act up without the mods, or if you didn't have any mods installed to begin with, verify the integrity of the game cache and have Steam re-download any broken/missing/corrupted files as necessary. 2) Have you made any recent changes to your system (such as adding/replacing/removing hardware or adding/removing/updating software)?
Worst case scenario, post your system specs here and someone might be able to pinpoint the problem from there. >**Posted by ** >>Best solution is to buy a old PC which can run these games or simply installing Windows XP or Windows 7 which can handle most of these games excellently. >>I can't give you more advice than that I am sorry. Why should they waste money on an older PC or install another OS? Steam has made the original games function rather well as it is, so there's no need to waste money or downgrade.
Plus, there's always a little something called 'compatibility mode' that tends to help as well. Not as serious as you'd think. >**Posted by ** >>1) Have you installed any mods recently? >>- A: If yes, remove those mods and try loading the game again. >- B: If it continues to act up without the mods, or if you didn't have any mods installed to begin with, verify the integrity of the game cache and have Steam re-download any broken/missing/corrupted files as necessary.

Steam has made the original games function rather well as it is, so there's no need to waste money or downgrade. Plus, there's always a little something called 'compatibility mode' that tends to help as well. 1) Since the Source Gold games don't work having mods would be pointless, so I don't. I don't even have any on the Source remake of Half-Life 1.
2) I have not even touched the inside of my PC or have seen it. Also I don't know what my PC specs are all I know is that it is on Windows 7 and has a sticker saying 'Intel Premium Inside.' Sorry, but I don't know what they are. Also I use a laptop if that helps you in any way. P.S: I never put anything inside any of the plug hole thingies of my PC except for my iPod charger. Hell, I don't even use a mouse that plugs into my PC just the one beneath my space bar.
Your Local Sentient Jar of Jam • 3y. I actually just realized that I forgot to ask another question that's somewhat important in my last post. By chance, was the game working just fine BEFORE this issue randomly came up, or did this start happening immediately after installation? If this randomly started happening at some point, then you could just be looking at a game that somehow managed to break itself; if that happens to be the case, you can either try reinstalling the game completely (uninstall it, remove it any entries of it from the registry, then reinstall it) like Glock18 suggested, or you can cut corners on the reinstallation by verifying the integrity of the game cache instead (right click the game in your Steam library, click Properties, go to the 'LOCAL FILES' tab, then click the 'Verify integrity of game cache.'
I'd actually suggest doing this first, in case you haven't done so already. As for finding your system specs, you can find out what your system specs are with dxdiag (open the start menu, type 'dxdiag' into the search, and you should see it pop up in the list). Open it, then give it a moment to collect your system specs, then click on the 'Save All Information.' After that, open the file and copy the contents to something like, then copy the link and paste it here in this thread. >**Posted by ** >>How about not bumping an old thread when you have nothing more constructive to say than that? It's only eight days old, dude.
Unless eight days somehow turned into 1+ months, it's not exactly 'old' just yet. And besides, there hasn't exactly been much to suggest beyond what Glock18 suggested, considering that the OP didn't post their system specs. For all we know, that could either fix the problem or do absolutely nothing.
• Helpful x 1 • Epic win x 1 Not as serious as you'd think. @: My posts are not dumb however. Why does one stamp my post dumb? I'd say that it's dumb to stamp my post dumb in my honest opinion to be perfectly honest.
It's really rude to do that. What if I did that to you everytime without it being actually dumb. That's just my opinion and it's not dumb at all. Maybe it is to you because it's too smart for you.
Did you ever consider that? Then don't bother stamping my post dumb then when it's actually a good solution.

And besides, there hasn't exactly been much to suggest beyond what Glock18 suggested, considering that the OP didn't post their system specs. For all we know, that could either fix the problem or do absolutely nothing. The problem first started when I bought Team Fortress Classic (My first Source Gold game). I started it up and the same problem occurred. I uninstalled and re-installed many times and verified game cache too at least twice for each. I thought that buying the original Half-Life would make it work since TFC is in the HL1 folder. HL1 didn't work either, so I decided to give up on it and just played Half-Life: Source and decided to give up on the Source Gold games.
However after recently picking up interest in Opposing Force 2 I wanted to play the original, as well as Blue Shift. So I booted them both up, same problem happened. So I came here to ask for a solution. As for the PC Specs I'll edit this post when I'm not busy so I can tell you them. • Interesting x 1 Your Local Sentient Jar of Jam • 3y. >**Posted by ** >>I actually just realized that I forgot to ask another question that's somewhat important in my last post.

Takes like 5 minutes max to find a solution. Gill Sans Mt Bold Font Free Download. It may say 'Program has error in this place or sth' and you can fix it like that. One other thing. It could be a graphics problem. I remember when I started using Counter-Strike in D3D renderer, it kept crashing and I couldn't play any goldSRC games. I had to enter some command line switching it back to Open GL.
Do you remember changing any graphics settings before the issue occured? Need a mapper? >**Posted by ** >>>That might take a long time >_>>>It shouldn't man. Takes like 5 minutes max to find a solution.

>>Do you remember changing any graphics settings before the issue occured? I've never worked with Source Gold or played any Source Gold game before, I've only downloaded mods for TF2, HL2, and L4D2. The only graphical change I have made with the source engine is adding a autoexec file to make TF2 always run with mat_phong 0.
